Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts, rejoice! Capcom has unleashed a free playable demo of the highly anticipated game on both PS4 and PS5.
This surprise announcement was made during the recent Street Fighter Showcase, where Capcom not only provided insights into Year 1 DLC characters but also treated fans to an in-depth look at the single-player World Tour mode. The demo features Ryu and Luke as playable characters and is currently live on PlayStation, with availability on PC and Xbox Series S/X scheduled for April 26. Players can explore the World Tour mode in the demo, creating a custom avatar/fighter with the option to transfer it to the full game at launch, provided it’s on the same platform. It’s essential to note that progress in the demo won’t carry over to the full game.
Street Fighter 6 as a Platform:
Street Fighter 6, like its predecessors, is poised to become a central platform for fighting game enthusiasts over the next few years. Street Fighter V, released in 2016, still boasts an active player base and numerous in-person tournaments. Capcom plans to maintain the game’s freshness by introducing new fighters through DLC. The first addition is Rashid, a tech-savvy character scheduled to join the roster in the summer of 2023 (Global North). Following suit in the autumn is A.K.I., a new face in the franchise, marking the conclusion of DLC additions in 2023. In 2024, players can anticipate two more characters: Street Fighter V’s Ed in early winter and the franchise regular, Akuma, in spring.
Year 1 DLC Characters:
1. Summer 2023: Rashid
2. Autumn 2023: A.K.I.
3. Early Winter 2024: Ed
4. Spring 2024: Akuma

Expanding Single-Player Experience with RPG Elements:
Capcom is intensifying its focus on the single-player experience by incorporating RPG mechanics into Street Fighter 6. The World Tour mode immerses players in the vast Metro City, allowing them to create a new character with fully customizable features, including hair, eyes, skin, and more. Under the guidance of coach Luke, players undergo training in basic fighting moves and combos before embarking on their adventure. The open-world setting of Metro City presents challenges from bystanders, reminiscent of a Yakuza-like city, ready for open challenges. Accumulating EXP through battles enables players to upgrade stats such as vitality (HP), and specific objectives in fights yield rewards.
RPG Elements in World Tour Mode:
1. Customizable Avatars
2. EXP for Stat Upgrades
3. Purchasable and Equippable Clothing Affecting Stats
4. Food Consumption for Health Restoration and Temporary Boosts
5. Energy Drinks for Mid-Battle Advantage
6. Learning Master Actions from Legendary Fighters like Chun-Li
7. Special Missions and Relationship Levels with Masters
8. Drive Stall Move for Time Manipulation
