“Wednesday’s Emma Myers Joins Cast of Live-Action Minecraft Movie”

Emma Myers, known for her breakout role in Wednesday, has been added to the star-studded cast of the upcoming live-action Minecraft movie, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film, slated for release in April 2025, remains shrouded in secrecy regarding its plot details.

According to Deadline, Emma Myers has secured a role in the movie, although the specific character she will portray has not been disclosed. Joining a cast that already includes Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Myers is set to contribute to the cinematic adaptation of the immensely popular video game.

Jared Hess, renowned for his work on films like Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite, is at the helm of the live-action Minecraft movie as its director. The project has undergone a series of changes since its inception, with initial directors Shawn Levy, Kieran Mulroney, and Michele Mulroney departing in December 2014. Rob McElhenney of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia briefly took the reins in 2015 before Peter Sollett’s involvement. Finally, Jared Hess officially took charge in April 2022.

Originally scheduled to commence filming this summer, the production of the Minecraft movie faced delays due to the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike. Now that the strike has concluded, the film is set to begin shooting in New Zealand by the end of the month.

Emma Myers gained prominence for her role as Enid Sinclair in Netflix’s Wednesday series. Before that, she featured in several short films and television movies, including the 2021 production Girl in the Basement. Notably, Myers played a significant role in the Netflix film Family Switch, sharing the screen with Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms. Reflecting on her experience, she mentioned in an exclusive interview with ComingSoon, “I used to be a dancer, so I love dancing, but starting a flash mob is something I’ve never done before, so it was a bit daunting.”

The live-action Minecraft movie, now enriched by the addition of Emma Myers, is eagerly anticipated and is scheduled to premiere in theaters on April 4, 2025, under the banner of Warner Bros. Pictures.
