Stock Market Today: Today’s stock market movement is moving at a slower pace. Along with this, shares of Bank Nifty are witnessing brisk trading and are trading just above the crucial level of 46,000.
How was the market opening today?
BSE’s 30-share index Sensex opened up 146.42 points, or 0.22 per cent, at 66,531 in early trading today. On the other hand, NSE’s 50-share index Nifty managed to open the trade up 57.00 points or 0.29 percent at 19,729.35.
JSW Steel, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Power Grid Corporation and Ultratech Cement were the big gainers on the Nifty, while ITC, Asian Paints, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki and Wipro declined.
Sensex and Nifty share position
Sensex and Nifty stocks today are dominated by the green mark. Out of the 30 stocks of the Sensex, 18 stocks are trading higher and the remaining 12 stocks are trading lower. On the other hand, 31 out of 50 stocks of Nifty are seeing strength and 18 stocks are trading with decline.
Status of Sectoral Index
Barring FMCG and IT stocks, rest of the sectoral indices are trading bullish in today’s trade. Metal stocks are witnessing a maximum rise of 1.29 percent. After this, realty shares are seen trading with a strength of 0.78 percent. At the same time, auto shares gained 0.76 percent and oil and gas shares were seen trading with a jump of 0.50 percent.
US market
US markets are seeing gains ahead of the Fed’s policy meeting starting today. The Dow rose for the 11th consecutive day yesterday. This is the first time since February 2017 that the Dow has seen such a long rally. Yesterday saw the Dow gain 183 points and the Nasdaq gain 26 points. The S&P 500 index rose 18 points to close at 4554. Nine out of 11 S&P sectors rose. Energy and realty stocks were the biggest gainers. US futures traded flat. Home prices in America are starting to rise. US home prices rise despite rising interest rates. Microsoft, Alphabet and GE will have results today.
European market
European markets closed marginally higher on Monday. Investors digested the inconclusive result of the Spanish election. Investors are now eyeing corporate earnings and results of central bank meetings. In yesterday’s trade, the pan-European Stocks 600 index closed with a marginal gain of 0.1 percent. The UK’s FTSE 100 and DAX also closed marginally higher. France’s CAC 40 index declined. Oil and gas stocks rose by 1.5 percent. While the share of media was reduced by 0.7 percent.
Recent data showed business activity slowed in July in France, Germany and Britain, raising the risk of a recession in Europe. Sunday’s elections in Spain left none of the country’s main parties with a clear majority, opening the door to potentially protracted coalition talks. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank is expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points at its meeting on Thursday.
Asian market
Asian markets are witnessing mixed business today. Currently GIFT NIFTY is showing a decline of 10 points. At the same time, the Nikkei is seen around 32,605.97, down about 0.29 percent. At the same time, it represents an increase of 0.10 percent in straight times. The Taiwan market is trading up 0.94 percent at 17,193.41. While the Hang Seng is seen at the level of 19,221.70 with an increase of 2.97 percent. At the same time, the Kospi is trading with an increase of 0.24 percent. At the same time, the Shanghai Composite showed an increase of 1.55 percent to the level of 3,213.34.
