Stock Market Holiday on Bakrid: This trading week is going to be a bit shorter for the Indian stock market as this week the stock market will trade for four days instead of five. The festival of Bakrid is coming up in the current business week, on the occasion of which there will be a holiday in the stock market. Eid-ul-Azha or the festival of Bakrid will be celebrated across the country on June 29.

When will there be a trading holiday in the stock market?

The country’s main stock exchanges BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on June 29 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid. Earlier, the local stock market was scheduled to remain closed on June 28. In fact, the Maharashtra government has now declared Bakrid as a public holiday on June 29, following this decision.

The National Stock Exchange said in its notification

On the reason for the change in the stock market holiday, the NSE notice said, “Due to Bakrid, the domestic stock market holiday is being changed to June 29, 2023. As per the attached notification, instead of June 28, 2023, there will be full day closure of NSE and BSE on June 29, 2023.” No trading or business operations shall be suspended.

This is the only stock market holiday in the month of June, for which a total of 15 stock market holidays have been declared this year. Now after Bakrid, the next stock market holiday will be on August 15, 2023, when the entire country will celebrate the Independence Day anniversary.
