Stock Market Closing: On the weekly expiry, the market saw a strong rally, with Sensex and Nifty closing at new highs, while Nifty Bank closed at record highs. The Sensex closed at 67.571.90, up 474.46 points or 0.71 per cent. Also, Nifty closed at 19,979.15 with an increase of 146.00 points or 0.74 percent.
The market closed at fresh highs today due to buying in banking-FMCG stocks. The Nifty is just 8 points away from touching the historical figure of 20,000.
The trading session of Thursday, July 20 proved to be a very historic one for the Indian stock market. Today saw sharp trading for the demerger of Reliance Industries to Jio Financial, but the National Stock Exchange index Nifty missed the record 20,000 mark by a narrow point. The Nifty was 8 points away from touching the 20,000 mark. Nifty can touch the historical figure of 20,000 if the market sentiment is good on Friday. BSE Sensex rose 474 points to close at 67,571 points and Nifty closed 146 points higher at 19,979 points.
There has been a break on five consecutive days of bullishness, profit taking has prevailed from the upper level in the market. Nifty has dipped below 19800, but midcaps are in a race to survive. Today the demerger of Jio Financial has been completed. The price recovered to 261.85, Reliance rose one and a half percent to a new record high from 2580 on the NSE. Also, Jetco has received a stop deal notice.
