Stock Market Closing: The Sensex ended the trade up 302.30 points or 0.45 percent at 67,097.44. On the other hand, Nifty closed at 19833.15 with an increase of 83.90 points or 0.42 percent. The tremendous growth that the stock market showed at the time of opening today was also seen at the time of closing. The stock market touched new highs with a strong rally soon after opening today and traded at higher levels during the intra-day as well.

Sensex and Nifty set new records
In today’s trade itself, the BSE Sensex touched an all-time high of 67,146.82 and showed excellent business performance. On the other hand, the Nifty touched an intraday high of 19,843.85, which is its all-time high and this is enough to show the continued strength of the market.

How has the sectoral index fared?
IT and Auto indices closed the trade today with minor declines and apart from this all other sectoral indices closed the trade with gains. PSU banks saw the maximum gain, which managed to close with a gain of around 2 percent. Media stocks gained 1.13 percent and consumer durables gained about 1 percent. Oil and gas stocks managed to close with a strength of 0.66 percent. Financial Services rose 0.57 percent and Nifty Bank closed with a gain of 0.57 percent.

The market capitalization of the market on BSE today is Rs. 304.68 lakh crores, which shows the ever-increasing wealth of investors. At the close of trading yesterday, the market cap of companies listed on BSE stood at Rs. 303.11 lakh crore was.

How was the market opened?

BSE’s 30-share index Sensex opened up 109.87 points, or 0.16 per cent, at 66,905.01 as the stock market opened today. Apart from this, NSE’s Nifty opened at 19,802.95 with an increase of 53.70 points or 0.27 percent. IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Apollo Hospitals and were the top gainers on the Nifty, while Hindalco Industries, Eicher Motors, Cipla, Nestle India and M&M were the top losers.
