Stock Market Closing: Thursday’s trading session was historic for the Indian stock market, with the BSE Sensex managing to cross the 66,000 mark for the first time. But after achieving this historic milestone, the market broke down sharply from the upper levels. The Sensex slipped over 600 points from its day high. So Nifty also saw a drop of 180 points. While the Sensex was trading with a jump of 770 and Nifty 183 points in the morning trade. At the end of today’s trade, the BSE Sensex rose 164.99 points to close at 65,558.89 and the National Stock Exchange Nifty rose 29.45 points to close at 19,413.75.

Sector status

Midcap and small cap stocks have seen sharp declines in today’s trading session. Apart from this, shares of auto, FMCG, pharma, energy, media, infra, consumer durables, healthcare, oil and gas sectors were down. However, the shares of IT, banking metals, real estate sector saw a boom.

Big drop in BSE’s market cap

Sensex crosses 66,000 for the first time
