Stock Market Closing, 10th June 2023: Indian stock markets closed flat on the first business day of the week. The stock market closed modestly higher today due to volatility. After the market opened with a bullish start in the morning, the market could not sustain throughout the day. Power, realty, IT sectors fell, while metal stocks gained. Investors’ wealth at the end of today’s day is 299.60 lakh crores.
The first business day of the week saw huge ups and downs in the Indian stock market. Shares in banking, IT, FMCG sectors saw gains, though shares of Reliance Industries sustained the market. At one point the Sensex traded up 355 and Nifty 100 points but ended the trading day with modest gains.

All sectors closed in red mark
At the end of today’s business day, the Sensex closed up 63.72 points at 65344.17 and the Nifty closed at 19335.90 points up 24.1 points. Bank Nifty closed down 64.15 points at 44860.85 points. Today 1454 shares advanced, 2123 shares declined and 114 shares remained unchanged. Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, HDFC Life and Bharti Airtel were the Nifty’s top gainers, while HCL Technology, Tataitan Company, Power Grid Corporation, TCS and HUL were the top losers. All the sectoral indices closed in the red. The BSE midcap index was down 0.45 percent and the smallcap index was down 0.25 percent.
Sector update
In today’s trading session, the stocks of metals, energy, infra, oil and gas sectors have closed with bulls. While shares of banking auto, IT, FMCG, real estate, media, healthcare, pharma sectors fell. Mid-cap and small-cap stocks also closed lower. Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 9 gained and 21 closed with losses. While 16 of Nifty’s 50 stocks rose and 34 closed with losses.
Investors’ wealth decreased
Even though the market closed higher, investors’ assets fell into the red today. The market cap of companies listed on BSE has reached Rs 299.60 lakh crore, which was Rs 299.68 lakh crore in the previous business session. In today’s business, the wealth of investors has decreased by Rs 8000 crore.
How did today start?
BSE’s 30-share index Sensex rose nearly 220 points to close at 65,500 points this morning. The Nifty was trading near 19,400 points with an increase of over 60 points.
