Pan Card Aadhaar Card Link: Linking PAN card and Aadhaar card is very important. For this, the last date was also announced by the Income Tax Department. People were required to link PAN card and Aadhaar card by 30 June 2023. However, if you are not able to link your PAN with Aadhaar by 30 June 2023, you will not be able to use your PAN for certain financial transactions. At the same time, there is no increase in its last date by the government.

If your PAN card has been deactivated, some steps can also be taken to activate it. In fact, after paying Rs 1000, PAN can be reactivated within 30 days after reporting Aadhaar to the prescribed authority. As per Rule 114AAA of Income Tax Rules, if a person’s PAN has been deactivated, they cannot produce their PAN, provide information about it and will be liable for all consequences under law for such failure.

As per CBDT circular in March 2023, PAN can be reactivated within 30 days after paying a fee of Rs 1000 on intimation of Aadhaar to the prescribed authority. However, if your PAN has been deactivated, you may face many problems.

Individual cannot file income tax return using inactive PAN.

Pending returns will not be processed.

Pending refunds cannot be issued on inactive PANs.

Pending processing cannot be completed in case of defective return when PAN is deactivated.

Tax will be deducted at higher rate if PAN is deactivated.
