Job Scam: Job scam in the country’s largest IT company, officials took so many crores of rupees in commission

News of taking bribe-commission in exchange for job is not new. Job related scams are frequent. The strings of this case have also connected with the country’s largest IT company TCS. It has been revealed that a commission of crores of rupees was taken in exchange for employment in the company.

A whistleblower disclosed

According to a report by LiveMint, in the country’s largest IT company. Some big officials took huge commissions from consultancy staffing companies in return for providing jobs. The entire incident was revealed by a whistleblower. A whistleblower reported the matter to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of TCS. The whistleblower had alleged that TCS’s Resource Management Group (RMG) Global Head ES Chakraborty had been taking commissions in return for hiring employees at the company for years.

 

The company has taken this action so far

After receiving the complaint, TCS constituted a committee of three top officials to investigate it, including Chief Information Security Officer Ajit Menon was also included. After a week-long investigation, TCS placed Chakraborty on leave and suspended four executives from the resource management group. Apart from this, the IT company also blacklisted three staffing firms.

Chakravarty was working in TCS since 1997. He was reporting directly to Chief Operating Officer Natarajan Ganapathy Subramaniam.  Resource Management Group executive Arun GK has also been prosecuted and sacked. Apart from these two, the names of the officials who have been prosecuted by TCS are yet to be known. The names of the three staffing firms that have been blacklisted have not yet been disclosed. It is not known how much commission was taken in return for getting a job in TCS. But it is believed that those involved in the scam have taken at least Rs 100 crore as commission. In fact the RMG division places around 1,400 engineers on various projects including new recruits every day. This means that the RMG division of TCS makes a new placement every minute. From this one can imagine the level of scam.
