PVR Inox: If you are also thinking of going to watch movies in PVR then good news for you. Central Government has given you a big gift. Henceforth, you don’t need to buy expensive popcorn while watching movies in PVR as the government has taken such a step, after which you will get cheap food in theaters.

Multiplex chain PVR INOX (INOX) has slashed food and beverage prices by up to 40 percent. Earlier, the company faced backlash on social media over its rates. The company said it has introduced food combos starting at Rs 99 between 9 am and 6 pm from Monday to Thursday. Also, on weekends, it has special offers on popcorn and Pepsi.

PVR Inox has said that weekend moviegoers can claim ‘unlimited popcorn’, including attractively priced ‘family meal combos’. This will reduce the cost of food and beverages (F&B) by up to 40 percent.

Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Executive Director, PVR Inox, said in a statement: “We listen closely to customer feedback on our F&B pricing strategy and have therefore created an affordable F&B offering that will appeal to moviegoers.

Let us tell you that in the recently held 50th meeting of the GST Council, it has been decided to reduce the GST on food available in cinema halls. GST on food available in cinema halls has been reduced from 18 percent to five percent, after which food and beverages available here have become cheaper.

Controversy over the cost of snacks started earlier this month when journalist Trideep K Mandal shared a picture of his bill from PVR Noida on Twitter, showing the amount he paid for paneer popcorn and a regular-size pack of Pepsi. The prices seemed exorbitant. In his social media post, he highlighted how the breakfast costs the same as an annual membership to Amazon Prime Video and expressed concern about affording a movie with the family.
