According to the data, about 8.83 lakh new members were registered during May, 2023, the highest during the last six months, a statement from the Ministry of Labor and Employment said. Members in the age group of 18-25 years have the maximum number of newly joined members, accounting for 56.42 percent of the total new members. Notably, 8.47 lakh new members joined EPFO ​​in April.

According to data from the Ministry of Labor and Employment, about 11.41 lakh members have dropped out but rejoined EPFO, who have changed their jobs and joined the organization elsewhere. These people have transferred their EPFO ​​account instead of settlement. At the same time, 3,673 organizations have also extended EPFO’s social security cover for their employees.

These five states are at the top

If we look at the state-wise data in terms of linking with EPFO, it is known that five states have the maximum number of EPFO ​​members linked. Which includes Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Haryana and Gujarat. Among all the states, Maharashtra has the highest number of members at 19.32 percent. At the same time, maximum number of employees have been added in construction industries, textile and electronic media companies and rubber manufacturing companies.

According to EPFO ​​data, out of the total 8.83 lakh new members added during the month of May, around 2.21 lakh new women members joined EPFO ​​for the first time. Apart from this, the total number of women members is about 3.15 lakh.
