Center Banned Cigarette Lighters Under Rs 20 Know About Revised Policy Inbound Shipments

The government has banned the import of Chinese cigarette lighters worth twenty rupees. Due to this decision of the government, the cigarette addicts have got a big blow. The number of drug addicts in the country is increasing day by day. In view of this, the government has banned the import of lighters priced below Rs.20. The government, while issuing a notification, said that lighters priced below Rs 20 should be banned.

Let us tell you that the government has taken this decision to control the import. Imports on lighters priced below Rs 20 have been removed from duty free and placed in the ‘Ben’ category. However, if CIF i.e. cost of lighter, insurance and freight is Rs. If more than 20 these lighters can be imported.

Lighters are imported from these countries

CIF is used to determine the total value of goods imported from outside countries. A ban has been imposed on pocket lighters, gas lighters, refill or non-refill lighters. In the previous year 2022-23, the import of pocket, gas lighter, refill or non-refill lighter was 6.6 million dollars. While in April this year, its price was 1.3 lakh dollars. Apart from import, there is another reason why lighters have been banned. In the year 2022, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also wrote a letter to the government.
