Income tax returns should be filed as long as the person is alive. He has to pay tax and can claim refund. Now log in with password and PAN and go to My Account

Then register yourself as a delegate

Now go to new request and proceed

Enter PAN card, deceased’s name and bank details etc.

Now after filling all the details, generate the XML file of the form, as upload it in this format only.

In the option containing PAN card details, details of the legal heirs have to be given.

Now select ITR Form Name and Assessment Year option

Submit the form after uploading the XML file and digitally signing it

Calculate the income

You should calculate your income before filing the return. A return of income of a deceased person is also filed like a normal person.
