Bank Close in July: There will be a half-month holiday in banks in July. Public and private sector banks will be closed for 15 days. Apart from weekends, banks will be closed on occasions like Moharram, Guru Hargobind Ji’s birth anniversary, Ashura and Ker Puja in the month of July. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list, there are 8 state holidays, which fall at different times in different states.
Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Srinagar on 5th July on the occasion of Guru Hargobind Ji’s birthday and in Aizawl on 6th July on MHIP Day. On July 11, there will be a bank holiday across Tripura on the occasion of Ker Puja.
Banks will be closed here due to Muharram
29th July is the festival of Muharram, a bank holiday in many states. Banks in Tripura, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh will remain closed due to Muharram. Bank holidays in July may vary from state to state as the holidays are determined based on local festivals.
Customers will not be disturbed
If you have any work to do at a bank branch, get it done as soon as possible, but if it’s work like ATMs, cash deposits, online banking and mobile banking, you can also do it digitally at home. However, people are advised to check the list of holidays before exchanging or depositing Rs 2,000 notes. The last date for exchange of Rs 2000 notes is September 30.
