Local residents of 100 to 150 houses living around Haresh Footevar street near Shahra Bhaghol in Godhra city are disturbed due to the inundation of rain water and the lack of disposal of the intolerable smelly water arising from the nearby drains. So the local people got together and submitted a written submission to the President including the Chief Officer of Godhra Municipality to resolve their local issue at the earliest.
The residents of Haresh Footwear Street, near the city of Godhra, are crying out because of the inundation of rainwater in the residential area. On the other hand, the work of the underpass bridge is going on near the railway gate of Godhra. There are bronze rain gutters all around. Due to lack of proper rainwater drainage, the area is filled with knee-deep water and the surrounding drains overflow with excrement. Due to which the local residents living there are having a lot of trouble to stay. Windows and doors are forced to be closed due to the foul smell of the water from these drains. One does not even go out of the house, due to which the chances of spreading a terrible disease in the area have increased.
Due to the operation of this underpass bridge, no footpath is maintained for any kind of movement. So the children of the poor class in this area have to go to the Kachiyawad Girls High School outside the gate via rickshaws and cross the over bridge. The cost of this rickshaw is not affordable, besides this, the residents of Harijanvas, Dholivas, Tirgharvas, Khadi Paliya in this area have to go to buy vegetables and groceries from the overbridge which they cannot afford. Godhra Municipal Officer has repeatedly called and presented to the office bearers in person and on the spot. Yet no action is taken our submissions are dismissed on deaf ears.
Our demand is to repair the broken sewer line while disposing of rain water and make arrangements to dispose of overflowing sewage. We have no objection to the construction of the underpass bridge. Local residents, children going to school and old people going to temples and gardens wanted to build a footpath as an alternative system for senior cities. Also, a written presentation was made to the President along with the Godhra Chief Officer to take action against the people who leave the vehicles on the road up to the Power House Gate and those who go to the market and return in the evening.
