23-year-old Namrata Rathwa of Vadodara took up kickboxing to overcome the grief of her father’s death and to protect herself and her family. This journey, which started as a passion, has now become the sole aim of Humility’s life. Namrata recently won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the National Kick Boxing Championship held in Jalandhar, Punjab, which was her first national tournament, and will now play in the World Championship and represent the country in international competition. The ultimate goal of this passionate journey of humility is the Olympics.

Became National Champion at the very beginning of her career
Originally from Chotaudepur, Namrata is currently settled in Vadodara and lives with her mother and younger brother. Did BE (Bachelor of Engineering) in Electrical from Babria Institute and now made a career in Kick Boxing. Started a golden career by winning 2 gold and 1 silver medal in his first National Kick Boxing Championship. She won gold in light contact and point fight and then silver medal in point five in the minus 55 category and is now working hard to win the title of world champion in kick boxing by participating in the championship in Portugal. However, the journey was not easy for him as he had to face many obstacles to realize his dreams.

In one fell swoop, the family split up and took up kick boxing
Kick boxing player Namrata says, ‘My entire family was shattered after the sudden death of my father in the year 2021. My father worked in GEB. After the death of my father, the responsibility of my mother and younger brother fell on my shoulders. After his father’s death he had to face many difficulties. I used my hobby as a weapon to overcome the grief of my father’s death and to take care of the family. I was fond of kick boxing and started training under it. Coach Siddharth Bhaleghar gave a lot of encouragement to turn my hobby into a career after my father’s death.’

My opponents are now proud of me
He further said, ‘My mother works as a head nurse in Sayaji Hospital. After my father’s death and even before, many people protested my kickboxing, but when after a year and a half of training I finally won my first gold in the National Championship, these naysayers are now proud of me. I am also taking Staff Selection Board classes and will also take up a government job with a sports career in future. I will represent India in the World Championship in Portugal from November 17 to November 26. I achieved my first career milestone after qualifying for an international kickboxing competition in Portugal. I will try to win there. The ultimate goal of my journey full of struggles is the Olympics and I am practicing hard to reach there.’

Practice has started
Coach Ravi Vanzara said that ‘1000 players participated in the National Championship organized by Waco India, in which Namrata has won 2 gold and 1 silver medal. She is now going to play the World Championship and has already started her preparation. I hope he will bring gold at the international level as well and brighten the name of the country. Namrata became a world class player in a very short period of time and has performed well in district, state and now national competition. Made his parents and his community proud.’

3 players brought gold
Along with Namrata, 3 other players – Akash Chauhan, Ishita Gandhi and Harshit Vyas won gold medals in the same tournament and qualified for the international competition in Portugal.
