Money Transfer in Wrong Bank Account: Transferring money from one bank account to another is a daily task for many people. The availability of online facility has increased the number of people transferring money. In such a situation, it is often seen that while sending money to someone, the money gets transferred to another account by giving wrong bank account number or any other wrong information.
What if money has been transferred to another account by mistake? What steps should you take? State Bank of India has shared its information on a customer complaint.
The customer took to Twitter and wrote, “@TheOfficialSBI I have mistakenly transferred money to wrong account. All the information provided by the helpline is given to the nearest branch. However no information has been provided by the branch yet. Please help.” The complaint was made by a user ID named @RaviAgrawa68779.
The home branch will contact the other bank
In response to this question, SBI’s official Twitter account said what steps you need to take if you have sent money to a wrong bank account. The bank said that if the wrong bank account number is entered, it has to contact the home branch. After this the home branch will initiate the process with the other bank without any fee or charge.
Dear @TheOfficialSBI I made a payment to wrong account number by mistake. I have given all the details to my branch as told by the helpline. Still my branch is not providing any information regarding the reversal. Please help.

Complain here if the branch is not working
However, if the matter is not resolved from that branch, the customer can complain by visiting the link https://crcf.sbi.co.in/ccfunder. Also go to the comment box and tell the whole matter. After understanding the entire matter, the team will investigate the matter.
What to do before transferring money
The bank said that if you are going to make any kind of payment, verify the account. Send money only after verification. The bank also said that the bank is not responsible for any wrongdoing. According to Reserve Bank of India rules, if any kind of wrong information is given and the money goes to any other account, it is solely the customer’s responsibility.
