A pledge of 23 thousand crore rupees to Gujarat
Earlier, American chip maker Micron Technology has announced setting up a new semiconductor chip plant in Gujarat. An investment of $2.75 billion will be made for this. This will be Micron’s first investment in India. Micron Technology will invest $825 million to set up this plant.
A total of $2.75 billion (Rs 22,540 crore) will be invested to set up the chip facility, thanks to the cooperation of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat, Micron Technology said. In which 50 percent of the government of India, 20 percent of the Gujarat government will also invest 100 percent. The company said that the construction of this new plant will start in 2023 itself and production from the plant will also start by the end of 2024. Work on the second phase of the chip plant will begin in the second half of this decade. Both phases will create 5,000 direct jobs while 15,000 people will continue to be indirectly employed over the next few years, Micron Technology said.
