A shocking incident came to light from Rander area of Surat. An 8-year-old student who was walking near Rander Santnam Circle and was going home from tuition, the rickshaw driver shouted loudly, ‘Come on, sit down. Regarding the incident, DCP Harshad Mehta said that on further questioning of the accused, it was revealed that the arrested accused used to lure the minors/girls wandering around alone in different areas of the city by luring them into rickshaws and taking them to their places and physically assaulting them. In 2019, a similar case of extortion and an offense under sections of POSCO has been registered against this accused in the police station. At present, the accused has been arrested and an in-depth investigation is being conducted in this matter. People are requested to immediately report any such incident to the police. In this incident, the police arrested the accused, Ujefa Mohammad Rafiq Butler (age 33). The police also impounded his rickshaw.
