Cyclone ‘Biporjoy’, which originated in the Arabian Sea between Mandvi in Kutch and Karachi in Pakistan, has intensified and become more deadly. Where this storm hits will determine its direction on Monday, but if it goes as per the current direction and forecast, it is feared that it will ‘touch’ Taraji anywhere between Karachi and Mandvi.
Cyclonic effects started to occur in the coastal areas
Saurashtra and south coastal areas of Gujarat have started to experience cyclonic effects, while the oceans are seeing human-sized waves like a pre-storm. Police patrols have also been arranged along the coast and a team including NDRF, Navy, Coast Guard has been deployed by putting up warning signals at the ports. Also, the migration of more than 40 thousand people from places including Kutch, Dwarka, Porbandar and 8200 people from 68 Kanthal villages from Gandhidham to Lakhpat is going on. 16 coastal villages of Khambhat have been alerted.
8200 people of 68 villages of Kantha area of Kutch will be relocated
Gandhidham: Signal number 4 has been installed at all the ports of Kutch including Dindayal Port Authority of Kandla. It means that there is a cyclone at sea and may affect the port further. Currently, the fishermen and laborers in Kandla port have started leaving the place spontaneously. 8200 people of 68 villages of Kantha area of Kutch will be relocated.
Holiday declared for children in schools
In Dwarka district, 900 more people have been relocated and signal number 4 has been installed at the ports. On Monday, a holiday has been declared for children in government and private schools of the district, but the staff will have to be present and perform necessary vigilance. However, the entry festival program in Devbhoomi Dwarka and Jamnagar districts has been postponed.
Signal No. 4 warning at the port of Porbandar
Porbandar : The system has listed 30,000 people from 31 coastal villages to evacuate. A contingent of 25 personnel of NDRF has been deployed at Porbandar port along with warning signal number 4. 2 teams of Coast Guard and 4 rescue boats of Navy have been deployed in the sea. Preparations have also been made to call the Army from Jamnagar when necessary in coordination with the Army through the administrative system.
This cyclone will enter Dwarka or Kutch area
Ahmedabad: Director of Meteorological Department Dr. Manorama Mohanty says that light to heavy rains are likely in Gujarat during June 11 to 16 with winds of 90 to 120 kmph, but as the cyclone moves towards Pakistan, there is little chance of further impact in Gujarat. The storm is moving north. Its direction is likely to be north-west from the morning of June 14. This cyclone is likely to form from Mandvi to Pakistan. This cyclone will enter Dwarka or Kutch area. This is a very dangerous cyclonic storm, due to which the wind speed will be 125 to 135 kmph from June 15.
Preparations of Gujarat
- 1 Total 7 teams of NDRF deployed in Rajkot, Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar and Dwarka while 3 teams kept standby in Vadodara.
- 2 Evacuation of 30 thousand people from 31 coastal villages of Porbandar has been started.
- 3 The administration set up a police watch so that no one could enter the shore as the 30-30 feet high waves rose in the sea.
- 4 Entrance festival postponed in affected areas, 2 days school holiday declared.
9 Ministers were given the responsibility of 8 districts
The state government has assigned the responsibility of 8 coastal districts to 9 ministers to deal with potential disasters. Ministers Rishikesh Patel and Praful Panseria in Kutch district, Kanubhai Desai in Morbi, Raghavji Patel in Rajkot district, Kunvarji Bavaliya in Porbandar and Molubhai Bera in Jamnagar, Harsh Sanghvi in Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jagdish Vishwakarma for Junagadh district, Gir Somnath have been entrusted with the responsibility of Parasottam Solanki. Around 800 citizens have been shifted across the state. Coordination has been made to provide assistance from Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Army if required and these agencies are also on standby. 7 teams of NDRF are deployed in Rajkot, Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar and Dwarka and 3 teams are kept on standby in Vadodara. 12 teams of SDRF are also deployed.
