A writ petition was filed in the Gujarat High Court
After Girish Bhimani took charge as the acting chancellor of Saurashtra University, several old jogis, syndicate members and members of the academic council were stripped of their membership by not holding the university senate elections. After which, a writ petition was filed in the Gujarat High Court in this chapter and a legal battle started.
Earlier, the hearing was held on January 8 and 13.
The Acting Chancellor of the University, Girish Bhimani, took away the post of some syndicate members of the BJP who did not hold the Senate election under the pretext of voter list. Patil and representations were made to the Education Minister and the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, a hearing was held on January 13 after last January 8 in Gujarat High Court, where a legal battle is now raging in this matter. But the university’s counsel could not come up with a concrete answer as the date fell further.
A senior judge of the High Court sought an answer on the issue of Senate elections
During the hearing in the Gujarat High Court on January 17, Senior Judge Bhargava Kariya of the Gujarat High Court confronted the Saurashtra University and demanded an answer regarding the Senate elections. Along with this, the chancellor was ordered to appear in the court at one stage. The chancellor can talk in this matter by telephone, video call or any other way. Otherwise an ultimatum was given to pass the order. Meanwhile, the Saurashtra University has declared the voter list of the Senate election before the High Court today and has given an affidavit to hold the election by August.
