A critical development in the series revolves around the connection between Yuji Itadori and Sukuna. In the anime, up until season 2, episode 15, Yuji has ingested a total of 15 fingers belonging to the King of Curses. Sukuna extracted the third finger from a Curse Womb and consumed it himself while using Yuji as a vessel.

Despite gaining significant strength from consuming these fingers, Yuji faced severe consequences. He temporarily lost control of his body for about half an hour, during which Sukuna unleashed havoc and caused a massacre in Shibuya. This tragedy resulted in numerous casualties, including Mimiko and Jogo.
